Joy Cowley awarded the Order of New Zealand

Much loved children's author Joy Cowley was awarded the Order of New Zealand this month by the Governor General, Dame Patsie Reddie.

Book Night - Tuesday 22 May

Join in to the nationwide book night. Wherever you are between 5pm and midnight read for 15 minutes or more then log in to www.bds.org.nz/booknight to place a location star on the interactive map and go into the prize draw.

Auckland Writers Festival

The Auckland Writers Festival is running from 15 - 20 May this year at the Aotea Centre.


Year 10 students are going to attend the Schools programme on May 16 but there are also lots of free events running on Saturday and Sunday. If you want to make it a family day there are activities for under 5's and primary students as well.

Seven Trees of Stone: Thirteen Days of Midnight Trilogy Book 3 by Leo Hunt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the final book in the trilogy and is a good fast paced race to the finish line. Luke faces challenges from old spirits, ghosts and his friends but manages to survive them all. Thirteen Days of Midnight is a great trilogy the books are not too long and are full of action.
