I have recently finished reading a lovable book by Rainbow Rowell called Eleanor and Park. This novel is an intelligent, comedic, romantic, and emotional book that had me in a mess of tissues and tears by the end of it.

Eleanor is the new girl in town and tries to blend as much as she can but Park can’t help but notice her because of her unique fashion choice and appearance . Their friendship starts off bad but eventually they start a relationship like no other.

In this novel the characters have a lot of emotional obstacles to face, for example someone is bullying Eleanor and for their relationship to expand Park needs to get over being embarrassed. There are many more obstacles they face together as their relationship is put to the test.

The character each evolve in a positive way . Eleanor becomes more confident, has more friends and more honest to herself and others. Park realises his true-self, becomes courageous and stars not caring about what others think about him.

I have learned a few lessons from that novel; ‘What is going on behind the scene’ basically means though some people may seem like they have it all together when really their life is completely falling apart. Another example is ‘Don’t judge a book by it’s cover’ at first someone might seem scary when really inside they are kind and harmless people.

This book had changed my perspective on most things and taught me valuable lessons. I recommend this book for those who want a laugh or to cry or perhaps both. This book will definitely stay in my top books list.

Book Review: Horowitz Horror

HOROWITZ HORROR

This book is full of short scary stories. I love all of them but if I had to choose one of them I would choose Bath Night because I have been in the same situation like this , but not as bad. It just makes me more scared bringing back the memories. This story is about a girl having hallucinations of being attacked or having karma. One of the scenes is that she fills the bath with boiling hot water, but when she jumps in the bath tub it is freezing like Antarctica. The main characters in this story are Isabel the daughter of Jeremy and Susan and Isabella's best friend Belinda.

Isabel is a confident,brave,smart and an intelligent teen. She is confident and brave because she is not over reacting to the situation. She is smart because she goes and finds clues and historical information about this bath tub.

• I'm particularly interested in the way that Belinda  was actually helping her instead of being all ratchet and thinking she is a psycho and sticking by her side.
• The challenges that Belinda and Isabel face were really tough, because the father and Mother wouldn't believe her daughter that she is having issues just because they are not having issues.
• For me I wouldn't be scared at all, because I have prayed to the Lord about this situation and he has heard it and will lead me to the path of righteousness and tell me to not be afraid, because God is always with me.
• I would feel very sad if this happened to my family, but have hope that the problems won't last very long like Isabela's. Because we will pray for the person in our family that is being tortured

Life, Interrupted- review

Life Interrupted is about Luke and his little brother Jesse who face life difficulties when their mum gets sick.

I think the point the author was making throughout the story was facing the worst and surviving, because you can see that Jesse and Luke each find a way of dealing with what has happened with their mum. Like Luke being mature about the situation and him thinking that doing ordinary things will help him get over what happened with his mum.  Also Jesse tries to get over the situation by playing soccer, and at the end of the story you can see that each of them have dealt with what has happened with their mum.

The challenges Luke had to face was finding out that his mother had cancer. He had to be mature about the situation. He had to take on responsibilities as an older brother like when his mum asked to take care of his brother while she was staying at the hospital.

The challenges Jesse had to face was big compared to Luke since he was younger and he didn't know his mother had cancer, so when his mum died it was a big surprise for him so his challenge from there was to act mature and deal with new circumstances.

I felt very sad when the mum died because that was an emotional part of the story, because she was such a good character, she was an only mother who was taking care of two sons and its a sad thing when a character you like dies.

From reading this book I have learnt to respect my mum. I have learnt to care and treasure the things I have and to be mature when bad things happen. 

My favourite character is Luke because I think I can relate to that character the most and I also respect his character because to be so mature about his mum dying and also taking many responsibilities as a 14 child is amazing. If I was Luke, I don't think I would be that mature about the situation that’s why I respect Luke’s character.

In conclusion I enjoyed reading the book, I think this book can relate to anyone. I have learnt so many things from reading this book. It is a funny, sad, enjoyable book.
